Cambridge’s first-ever ‘Punt-a-thon’ for Children in Need

Cambridge’s first-ever 12 hour-long ‘Punt-a-thon’ will take place on 2nd November 2019, where Let’s Go Punting and the Traditional Punting Company are raising funds in aid of BBC Children in need. Tours will depart hourly from 8am until 8pm in a special Polka Dot Pudsey Punt designed and donated by Footprint Signs and Graphics.

What is BBC Children in Need?

Children in Need is the BBC’s UK corporate charity. Their aim is to make a difference with changing children’s lives all across the UK by providing a ‘happy childhood’ for every child, where they feel safe, happy and secure and are allowed the chance to reach their potential.

How do they do it?

They provide grants to various projects across the UK focusing on those children and young people who are disadvantaged. They work hard in every corner of the country supporting small and large organisations which help children to extend their life choices.

The BBC Children in Need Appeal Night takes place every year in November and this is where the idea of the Cambridge ‘Punt-a-thon’ came from.  Before the Appeal Night, there is plenty of fun stuff going on in the UK; this includes schools, workplaces, independent businesses and the public being involved in the fundraising progress in various ways – such as organising a 12-hour long ‘Punt-a-thon’!

If you wanted to do something for a good cause and make a change this year, this is definitely your opportunity!

Tours will depart on the hour and tickets can be purchased here. Private tours can be purchased over the phone. If you’d like to get some more information on BBC Children in Need and ways to get involved, click here.
