Let's Go Punting is an independent family business running traditional chauffeured punting tours in Cambridge.

Let's Go Punting

Let’s Go Punting was set up in 2008 to offer locals and tourists the opportunity to enjoy the majesty of the College ‘Backs’ at an affordable price.

Having a young family ourselves it’s important to us that we provide top-quality tours and amazing customer service whilst still remaining affordable. We launched our early bird rate in 2017 and it’s still available today. With our Early Bird rate, we offer our very best rates for the first tours of the day when the river is at its quietest. In our experience, this option is ideal for families with young children.

We are proud to be highly rated on Trip Advisor, Google, GetYourGuide and Facebook. Check out our latest reviews here. As a small business reveiws and feedback are so important to us so if youve enjoyed a tour with us please do take a couple of minutes to leave a review.

Traditional Punting Tours in Cambridge

There is a long tradition of Punting in Cambridge with punts being used as pleasure craft since approxiamtely 1900. At Let’s Go Punting we havent been around quite that long but are proud to provide award winning traditional punting tours of Cambridge.

In Cambridge, Punting is the Number 1 thing to do so let us take you on our 50 minute private punting tour and show you the best sights that Cambridge has to offer whilst you sit back, relax and take in the views.

We offer traditional punting tours along the College ‘Backs’ in Cambridge on our wide beam mahogany punts, some of which we designed and built by Simon in India. Our boats are licenced for up to 12 passengers who can be comfortably seated on the 4 rows of seats. We have a mix of 2 and 3 section punts meaning we have the flexibility to best seat your group.

The College ‘Backs’ in Cambridge is one of the most famous stretches of river in the country – second only to the Thames in London perhaps. Its also one of the most lucrative with large numbers of chauffeured and self hire craft being commercially registered on the Cam each year.

We are a small and Independant company wokring from the city councils Landing Stage on the corner of Jesus Green as part of the city’s independant punting scheme.

Punting in Cambridge and COVID-19

COVID-19 has been a disaster for the tourism and hospitality sector all over the globe and Punting in Cambridge is no exception. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 we have faced lockdowns, restrictions and unprecedented challenges; the future of our business has never been more unsure.

2020 was a very busy year for us, we welcomed the newest edition to our family during the lockdown in March 2020. The rest of the year was extremely busy with a baby, a 5-year-old to homeschool and a business to get back up and running.

Business Improvements

We worked extremely hard, not only to become COVID secure but also to offer our customers a better level of service. The changes we have made include temporary measures such as restricted seating, cleaning the boats between every tour, wipe clean cushions and perspex screens. In addition we have also made some permanant changes which make our business better in the long run. These include a new booking system with live availability and dynamic pricing so we are able to offer our customers the best possible prices when the river is at its quietest. We also now operate a departure alert text messaging system to avoid long queues at our check-in desk.
