Punting in Cambridge with the family

This half term, whilst enjoying the last of the winter sun, come and join us on a 50-minute chauffeured tour with you and your family! At Let’s Go Punting, we offer a 50-minute private or shared punting trips. Whilst on one of our tours you will learn new fun facts about Cambridge which is home to one of the most famous universities in the world.
We offer two different types of tours, either a shared tour or a private one. Both types of tours run throughout the day, we recommend departing before 11am which is when the river is at its quietest, and tickets are at their lowest price offering at the best value! For our shared tours, we offer a family ticket which is an option for up to 6 people, with a maximum of two adults who are over 18 years old, a great option for this half term!
Not to worry!
Our landing stage is located on Jesus Green, which is a large park situated next to the river – a great place to explore before or after your punting tour with us! On Jesus Green, you and your family can enjoy a picnic and the well-equipped park which has a children’s playground & skate park for you and your family to enjoy.
On arrival at our departure point, your chauffeur will help you on to the boat and accommodate your needs for your tour. If you have any pushchairs or children’s scooters these can be left at our check-in desk.
During the tour, children can be occupied with the beautiful nature which compliments the grounds of the colleges. On the river, children may see ducks, swans, herons and spot fishes! Whilst we encourage you to bring snacks for the kids please don’t feed the wildlife!
If you wish to purchase a private tour, we offer different add ons for you and your family! We offer three different types of picnic options– Afternoon Tea, a Brunch Box, and a Deli-style Grazing board. Please let us know in advance if there are any allergies or dietary requirements! Although we offer punting picnics and refreshments, all parties are welcome to bring their own food and drinks aboard.
Do you do any other activities?
Yes! At Let’s Go Punting, we offer other activities which aren’t on the water. We offer scavenger hunts which are great for families to participate in and create new memories to reflect on. The hunt is based around Cambridge city centre, including 3 different question rounds and sealed packs posted to you before the booking date. We offer the scavenger hunt in conduction with a punting booking, a great way for families to have a run and move around after a relaxing tour. Prices are dependent on the party sizes, starting from £60 for 2 team packs and an additional £20 for more teams! We would recommend our scavenger hunt for children aged 10 and over.
What else can we do with the family?
One of our favourite things to do in Cambridge with the kids is to go on a dinky door trail around the city centre. Check out their website and this great blog we wrote to find out more about Cambridge’s awesome dinky doors and where to find them.
We also love visiting Cambridge’s museums, many of which are free to enter. With small children, we would definitely recommend the Zoology museum full of fantastic animals and skeletons and the Sedgewick museum where you will find roar-some dinosaurs.
