Miniature Railway

There are many things to do at the Audley End miniature railway to keep your children entertained for hours.

The main attraction is of course the railway. A 1.5 mile track takes you through the beautiful woodland, through tunnels and over the river Camb where you can keep an eye out for wildlife, and also teddy bears! It’s a tradition of the miniature railway to hide teddy bears throughout the wood for you to spot so pay attention!

They also challenge you to try to spot all the animals and objects on their woodland I spy sheet.

Enchanted Elf & Fairy Walk

Follow the path through the enchanted woodland and visit the little elves and fairies that live there. They live in tiny, handmade, wooden houses spread throughout the walk and you should make a wish or two when visiting Christabelle the Wishing Fairy in her enchanted home.

You can make your own wand that you can use to access your magic powers! You can also use your wand to ward off Gormley the Troll. He lurks under the bridge and likes to lure children into his cage so he can gobble them up!

Adventure Play Area & Woodland Cafe

The adventure play area is a good place for the kids to run around and let off some steam. With a train station platform, a train and climbing frames they will have plenty of space to play. Whether it’s role playing as a conductor or sliding down the slide your kids will definitely be entertained.

You can also visit the woodland cafe if you’re feeling peckish. Everything they serve is home made and locally sourced so you will be supporting small, local businesses with every purchase.  Their meat is sourced from the local butcher, and the ice cream is produced by the Saffron Ice Cream Company, located only 500m away from the railway.

You and your children will be well fed and well rested by the time the day is done!

The Halloween Special

If you are looking for things to do over this October half term then the Audley End miniature railway Halloween special may be for you. Like us, the railway is offering a Halloween package deal to entertain your children.

You begin your adventure with a train journey through the woods where you will be greeted by the witches that live there. You will then go for a wander through the woods to hunt down Belinda the Fortune Teller, and once she has told you your fortune it’s off to find the wizard!

Booking is required in advance for this experience through their website.

The Audley End woodland is beautiful all year round but do check the weather forecast before you go, as there’s no beauty in forgetting your welly boots!
