What’s on in Cambridge this autumn?

In one fall swoop, it’s autumn again.

As The change of seasons is well and truly upon us.  Not only has the weather become chillier. But it seems everyone is suffering from the inevitable cold that the change of seasons brings.

The popularity of the colder seasons is dependent on who you speak to. Here at Let’s Go Punting, we figured that no matter your opinion we have a list of Autumnal Events in the city that will guarantee fun-filled autumn in Cambridge.

N.B. these events are in no way listed in any particular order.

1- Halloween Punting and Themed Scavenger Hunt

We can’t recommend our Halloween Punting and Scavenger Hunt enough. It is the perfect October Half Term activity for kids and parents alike.

Our themed scavenger hunts are full of spooktastic thrills. It includes creepy college makeovers, ghoulish spot the differences, scary dot to dots and eerie word searches. Throughout this booklet section, there is a code to solve with a candy-themed prize to claim at Hardy’s Sweet Shop.

Once your punting tour has finished, the second half of the booklet takes you on a scavenger hunt around some of Cambridge’s most spine-chilling locations.

In our opinion, this is by far the best thing to do this autumn.

2-The Great Bioquest

Carrying on the theme of walking tours, The Great Bioquest is a walking tour/scavenger trail based around Cambridge’s scientific past.

The trail starts and ends at the Museum of Zoology so not only is this trail a fun day out.

It is a perfect way to learn more about the discoveries and creations that Cambridge has been home to.

Do you know DNA? Its double helix structure was discovered just down the road from the Museum of Zoology at The Cavendish Laboratory.

Do you fancy being transported to the continent for the weekend but for a tenth of the price? Oktoberfest Cambridge is offering tickets from £10 for General Admission.

Oktoberfest is coming to Cambridge on Friday 30th of September and Saturday 1st of October! And guess where? On Jesus Green.  By the corner of our Landing stage, it would be the ideal place to go after coming punting with us!

On top of that, there will be a German band, which is from Bavaria, prepared to play a magnificent selection of tunes, ranging from classic German Schlager to authentic Oompah melodies.  The fun does not end there, you can also shop the traditional Oktoberfest Uniform and go in n dirndl and lederhosen as well to feel the true sense of german Oktoberfest in Cambridge.

4- Cambridge Literary Festival

The Cambridge Literary Festival is back for its winter run. For four days at the end of November, Cambridge welcomes a variety of literary figures. From Reni Eddo-Lodge to David Dimbleby to Nadiya Hussain to Hugh Bonneville.

The festival will be covering a range of different genres including biography, history, society, fiction, and cooking.

This is definitely a must-do. The genre scope here is massive, really making it accessible to all.
