Who says that there aren’t sunny days in November?
In fact, this year, we have experienced some beautiful sunny days. And the best part of it, is the sunset at the end of the day, especially if there is a clear sky. Watching the sunset in Cambridge is something quite unique.
Although the days are getting shorter, with the approach of the Winter, the sunsets have been splendid. So look no further! We have compiled some of our favourite spots to see the sunset in Cambridge!
Best spots to see the Sunset in Cambridge:
1. Castle Mound
Castle Mound is one of our all-time favourite spots to watch the sunset in Cambridge! It is also one of the most popular places with Cambridge residents’. This mound has some great importance in the history of Cambridge. It was once the site of the Roman town of Duroliponte, originally an Iron Age hill fort. Nowadays this mound offers expansive views over the rooftops of the town and surrounding countryside. So is the perfect spot to watch the sun setting over the city.
2. OtherSyde Bar
The OtherSyde is the Bar at Cambridge Museum of Technology. This bar has a large outdoor seating area as well as a balcony facing north onto the River Cam. This balcony is where you want to be seated by sunset time. It is such a wonderful and comfortable way to end the day.
3. Parker’s Piece
Large parks are usually a good shout to watch the sunset in Cambridge. One place, in particular, is Parker’s piece. Here you can sit with some friends anywhere along the green, facing the University Arms Hotel. Or, you can alternatively sit at the south end of the park directly facing the sunset.
4. Jesus Green Park
Another park that is a great spot to relax at the end of the day is Jesus Green. Perhaps you might want to be seated on the west side of Jesus Green Tree Avenue, just so you can have a wider angle to see the sun going down.
5. By the River Cam
Lastly, but not least is the River Cam. We at Let’s Go Punting, watch many sunsets along the River Cam. It is a great spot for those who want to see the different colours of the sky contrasting against the deep blue of the river. We will never get tired of this view.
You can sit by our meeting point near the punts, or alternatively stand at Garrett Hostel Bridge. Wherever you are seating along the river, it will always be gorgeous.
Golden hour in Cambridge
Don’t forget to wrap up warm and bring along a warm drink whilst you sit back and wait for the sun to set. We also recommend to bring a blanket along for some extra comfort. So, remember to be prepared and get your phone or camera at the ready, for some incredible shots of Cambridge in the most beautiful light.
