If you’re looking to get involved with a good cause this year, and if you enjoy a good challenge, then you should support the East Anglian Air Ambulance service in the Cambridge half marathon.
About the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service
The air ambulance service provides a vital response service that has saved countless lives. It is also the first air ambulance service in the East of England to begin to fly 24/7. Previously there was a gap, between 1.30am and 7am, where there was no emergency air ambulance available to the public. Because of donations and charity fundraising events, it has been made possible for there to be a helicopter ready to fly at all hours of the day and night.
Cambridge Half Marathon for East Anglian Ambulance Service
The Cambridge half marathon is a 13.1 mile race through Cambridge, running through the colleges and iconic streets.
The marathon takes place on Sunday the 17th of October and there is a £25 entry fee. Once you have registered, get out there and start training!
If you are competitive I would recommend training for the race or at least practicing, as if you want to compete then you don’t want to be out of breath a mile in! Running for a cause such as the East Anglian Air Ambulance is an impressive thing to do and will require dedication and mental strength to make it to the finish.
As you are running for such a good cause why not get your friends and family involved too? If they are active like you then they should sign up and run alongside you, you could even have your own separate race between yourselves, where you can lord your win over them at family gatherings for many years to come.
Sponsorship
And if they’re not overjoyed at the idea of running 13.1 miles, and spending half the day sweating then maybe they could sponsor you? If you manage to raise £75 the East Anglian Air Ambulance team will send you a running vest for the race.
No matter how little, or how much you raise for the East Anglian Air Ambulance service all of your donations will be greatly appreciated and will go towards saving someone’s life.
Support
Don’t worry! You are not being set a difficult new challenge and being left to figure it all out on your own. The East Anglian Air Ambulance team offer support to anyone who signs up for the half marathon, with access to fundraising tips, and support from their events team,
Also, there will be an opportunity to join a webinar where you will meet your fellow runners and the charity team, and you will have access to a private Facebook group where you can converse with each other to swap tips and tricks.
We at Lets Go Punting believe in supporting good causes and the East Anglian Air Ambulance is a brilliant one. So we hope to see some of you there, no matter how well you do, you’re running to save lives.
